9 People were hanged in the Kurdish city of Urmiyeh by the Iranian Government on Christmas day


Iranian government hanged 9 people in the Kurdish city of Urmiyeh Central prison on Christmas day.
According to rojhelat.info and Mukrian News seven people named as Usef, Heyder, Mehdi, Qorbanali, Seyid, Siros and Nahid were hanged on the ground of drug dealing.
All the prisoners were hanged simultaneously and collectively in the prison yard of Urmiye prison located in the city of Urmiye.
Mr Mesood Shemsnejad, the lawyer of victims, has confirmed the news and stated that he should have been notified before the execution as stipulated by the Iranian constitution, however he was not.
Another two prisoners were hanged with same charge in Resht prison located in the city of Resht on 24th December.
Including these cases 582 people have been hanged by the Iranian Authorities since the beginning of 2011.

Iranian government  has been hanging activists and innocent people on so called Drug trafficking charges, and also there are many other executions that takes place in hidden places and behind closed doors that we do not have the numbers of.
