TURKEY, -- While situation of ill prisoners is ever worsening, 913 prisoners, who fell ill due to poor living conditions in prison, have lost their lives in the last 10 years.
401 people committed suicide and the number of deaths will increase much more unless the prison conditions are improved.
According to the data of Human Rights Association, detainees and convicts get mostly diseases of heart, cancer, stroke, memory loss, and stomach diseases resulting from stress.
The 2011 data of IHD revealed that prisoners and convicts catch many diseases due to unfavourable living conditions.
1318 prisoners died naturally, 401committed suicide and 38 were murdered by other prisoners.
