Cebar Yawer the head of the Ministry of Kurdish Special Force (Peshmerge) participated in one of Newroz TV talk show in which he claimed they have right to defend their territories one they are attacked.
“Any bombardment and shelling of our region are illegal and lawful. This is also against international laws and violates treaties between Iraq and her neighbour countries; it also of violating of human rights,” Mr Yawer stated.
“This is abusive against our country, Kurdistan regional and Iraqi government haven’t given permission to those countries to target Kurdistan region and Iraq and we are not in war with those countries,” Yawer added.
Ministry of Peshmerge in his speech stated that they will respect the international laws and said the following:
Kurdish government is committed to the International laws to protect its borders and not let them to be targeted by the neighbouring countries. But if there is war within the borders of these countries, for example if there is a clash in Culemerg, this is not related to us and this can not be an excuse that Turkish warplane targeting Kurdish villages; because these villages haven’t any connection with conflicts.
Mr Yawer displayed concern over collaboration between Turkey and Iran against the Kurdish freedom movement.
“Kurdistan government does not want to be part of this fight, we don't have any agreement between those countries and as it means we don't support those countries; we also neither support PKK nor PJAK,” he said.
“We are independent, in many occasions we said that, this conflict will not solve through bullet, bombardment and shelling; because it is a political issue, it must be resolved through dialogues. Kurdistan government is ready to support a peaceful solution through dialogue,” Mr Yawer added.
In the end the head of Peshmerge Ministry stated, we are against violence and we condemn it. If there is a target on our villages and cities our forces will defend.
