Widespread arrest in Sanandaj and the continuation of unrest across Kurdistan by the Iranian Government

last week over a hundred residents and the youths of Sanandaj were arrested among them Mrs. Roya Toloie and several other women’s movement activists. The residents of the city in protest to these arrests closed the shops and bazaars. Security forces and the national guards have announced martial law in the city since last night.
The residents of the neighboring city of Maryvan in solidarity with Sanandaj and in protest against the recent waves of repression in Kurdistan joined the rest of the cities in Kurdistan by closing the bazaars and shops; and security forces and national guards have filled the city streets and are forcefully dispersing any gatherings of more than three people.
Last night the city of Divandareh again was the scene of widespread demonstration in solidarity with the residents of Sanandaj and other Kurdish cities. Terrorizing and arresting of people in these cities is still continuing.
Freeing of all the arrested people, cancellation of martial laws and prosecuting those who killed innocent demonstrations in Kurdistan are the request of the people of Kurdistan. Brutal reactions of security agents of the Islamic Republic have angered people of Kurdistan and are no doubt is shameful for the regime.
