Joint strike of Kurds and Azeri’s in Kurdish Cities of Oromiyah and Naqadeh

Sunday August 7th, Kurdish and Azeri shopkeepers of the two mixed cities of Oromiyah and Naqadeh in a joint strike in protest to the recent repressions closed their shops and bazaars. This joint action has great historical significance in struggle for democracy and freedom for all people of Iran in general and the Kurds and Azeri’s in particular.
No doubt that the Islamic Republic will try to clout this cooperation by magnifying the national and religious differences amongst these two neighboring people just like what they did during the revolution against Shah’s regime and early in its reign. However, these two people have much more in common then their skin-deep differences. They have lived thousands of years alongside each other and have many common interests and aspirations.
The recent uprising of people of Kurdistan is for freedom and democracy and against the repression and political dictatorship. This uprising is demanding freedom and democracy for all the people of Iran and therefore all the repressed people should join in the struggle.
