Kurdistan Parliament discusses Iranian bombardment of border areas of the Region.

PNA-The Parliament of the Kurdistan Region is holding a session on Monday to discuss the report of the fact-finding commission about the Iranian bombardment of border areas of the Region, according to a Parliament’s statement.

“The (Kurdistan) Region’s Parliament is holding a special session at 11:00 hours local time today (Monday), to discuss the bombardment of the Islamic Republic of Iran of border areas inside the Kurdistan Region,” the statement stated.

The President of Kurdistan Parliament, Kamal Kirkuki, had conferred with the Iranian Consul in Kurdistan Region, Sayid Azim Husseiny, last Saturday, with whom he discussed the continuation of the Iranian bombardment of the border areas in Kurdistan.

Kirkuki had expressed bother towards the continuation of the Iranian bombardment, that killed and injured a number of civilians, wrecked mosques and houses, killed cattle, burnt agricultural fields and forced dozens of families to desert their villages, condemning those attacks.

The Kurdistan Parliament’s President said that “the main people harmed by the Iranian bombardment are inhabitants of the said areas and Kurdistan Region in general.”

“Any attack or bombardment of the border areas and villages shall undermine the Iranian positions and the relations with Kurdistan Region; that is why it’s necessary to protect the sovereignty of those territories and to cease the bombardment of the border areas inside Kurdistan Region, in order to protect relations between both sides and their development,” Kirkuki said.

Fighting had been continuing between the elements of the anti-Tehran Free Life (PJAK) Party and the Iranian forces on the Iraq-Iran borders, causing dozens of casualties among both sides, whilst the Iranian artillery continues to bombard the border areas, suspecting the presence of PJAK fighters in.

The bombardment had covered villages inside Kurdistan territories, thing that killed 3 civilians and wounded a number of others, along with forcing hundreds of families to desert their areas and move to safer villages.

The Iraqi government, on its part, had called on the Iranian side to cease the bombardment, whilst a Parliamentary fact-finding commission had presented several proposals to the government, demanding it to press on the Iranian government to stop the bombardment operations immediately and to compensate the victims, along with dozens of civil society organizations that demanded to put an end to the Iranian violations, through different activities over the past three weeks.
