124 Kurdish villages evacuated due to Turkish bombardment

117 villages in Amediye region of Dihok and 7 villages in Kandil and Sidekan regions have been evacuated as a result of the ongoing Turkish air strikes on Federal Kurdistan Region since August 17, reported Rudaw newspaper.

Some other sources in the region have claimed that around 170 villages will be evacuated in Amedi region which has been targeted by the Turkish army. It has been argued that each family to be evacuated will be given 30 million dinars.

Giving information to ANF, Journalist Omar Mohammed Omar remarked that the Mêrga Çiya, Yekmalê, Hêsê, Xirabe, Şêlaza, Dergelê, Pîrka, Bêşîlê, Bêlîzanê, Bazê villages in Metina have been evacuated. Omar added that 10-15 other villages in Haftanin region and Xirabe and neighboring villages have also been emptied after yesterday’s assaults.

While political parties, civil society organizations and the public reacted against the operation in Federal Region of Kurdistan, the evacuation of villages is commented as “a sign of a wide-scaled operation after the Ramadan month as the region is left peopleless as most probably chemical weapons will be used during the operation”.

At least three villages have been hit by the air assaults of the Turkish army since five days, while countless houses and fields have been destroyed.
