54 years old Kurdish woman died after being hit by the Turkish police by Tear gas


BATMAN, -- Fifty four year-old Kurdish woman Hatice Idin, who was said to be brain dead on Thursday after being hit by Turkish police tear gas, died at 5 am this morning in Batman World Hospital where she had been recovered since 12 June.
The woman was taken to hospital after being hit by police tear gas on June 12 in Sirnak while she was celebrating the results of the elections.

Her funeral will take place in Sirnak.

Only a month ago a retired teacher, Metin Lokumcu, lost his life due to intense tear gas thrown by police to disperse a protest demonstration against Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan in Hopa, a district of Artvin, on May 31.

Police have injured 35 Kurdish children with tear gas during the interventions in Nusaybin, a district of Mardin, in the last two months.

Mahfuz Kutlu, was hit in the eye by police gas bomb and lost the eye only two days ago. Kutlu was in a protest against Supreme Election Board’s (YSK) decision in Mersin.

Turkish police injured seventy -five year-old Halime Kayar and eleven others during a celebration of the election results on June 12 in Siirt. Kayar’s condition finally improved after being in intensive care for eight days. She said that four police officers, including two plainclothes police, beat her non-stop. Her wounds required more than 100 stitches in her head.

On June 6, police tear gas hit Huseyin Carush in the eye during a protest march in Diyarbakir and he lost his eye.

Fifty-six-year-old Nezir Gecidibi was seriously injured on June 6, in Mardin while a mentally handicapped young boy was cruelly beaten on June 28, in Istanbul.
